8 Tips for a Healthier Life

Living a healthy lifestyle – we all have good intentions to do so, but every now and then the temptation to stray arises.

While some of these tips may seem like “no-brainers”, they are healthy life mantras for a reason. These easy tips really do work and can have you living a healthier and happier lifestyle in no time!

Drink more water
This is one of those “no-brainer” tips, but you cannot deny how important water is to your health and daily well-being. Bring a water bottle with you wherever you go and always strive to meet that eight 8-ounce glasses per day rule, which is the equivalent of 2 liters. One proven way to ensure you drink this much is purchase a 2 liter water bottle like this one and just make sure you’ve finished it by the end of each day!

Cook from scratch
Making your meals at home is the best way to have complete control of what goes into your food and therefore your body! With meal kit delivery services continuing to trend, you could try incorporating some of the chef-created programs (like Blue Apron or Plated) to add some variety to your at-home cooking. Pinterest is a cornucopia of creative and easy recipes, there is no excuse!

Eat the rainbow
We mean, literally, eat food of every color of the rainbow. A variety of nutritious food is the key to a healthy and well-balanced diet!

For example:
Red: apple, strawberry, tomato
Orange: tangerine, butternut squash, sweet potato
Yellow: pineapple, mango
Green: lettuce, avocado, cucumber

Don’t skip breakfast
There’s a reason why breakfast is commonly referred to as the most important meal of the day. Eating a nutritious and wholesome breakfast helps to kick-start your metabolism and helps to give you energy throughout the day. Don’t underestimate its value!

Keep active
While this is another obvious tip, we suggest making sure you keep active by incorporating some new habits and types of exercise. For example, start using the stairs instead of the elevator and during your lunch break from work. Also,  we suggest get some fresh air and take a walk outside.
If you don’t enjoy a traditional gym workout, try something a little more unconventional – see if there is a nearby rock-climbing gym in your area and go for a climb. Spin and barre classes are also very effective, and trendy, ways to exercise. Find a sport or activity that you actually enjoy and use that as your way to stay active!

Sleep well
Getting enough sleep directly affects your ability to learn and perform the next day, and gives your body time to repair and rest before another day begins. Not to mention that a lack of sleep causes pre-mature aging and no one wants that.

Listen to your body
Eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full. It seems very simple but it’s hard to stop eating when your meal is just so delicious that you’re considering eating it every day for the rest of your life. We’ve all been there.

Don’t drink your calories
If you are a daily soda drinker, we strongly urge you to consider the health benefits of cutting soda out of your life. Sodas are packed full of sugar and empty calories, causing weight gain. We have all heard the success stories of people who stopped drinking Pepsi or Mountain Dew every day and lost over 10 pounds. It really does make a huge difference! Opt for sparkling or naturally flavored water for a healthier alternative.
